Fear Of The Unknown

Subject: Burning Issy
Author: Melvin Burgess
Approved: March 2005
Approved by: thefanlistings.org
This is a really great novel by Melvin Burgess. Sad, but most books about the witch trials are. I borrowed it from the school library about six or seven times before I bought my own copy.

Visions Of Darkest Night

Subject: Circle of Three, #3 - Second Sight
Author: Isobel Bird
Approved: April 2005
Approved by: thefanlistings.org
Even though these books are more then a little unrealistic (even taking into account that they're fantasy-fiction), they're cute books. I love #3 because it's the first that really focuses on one character. And I've got a thing for Cooper.

Path Of The Daughters

Subject: Circle of Three, #8 - The Five Paths
Author: Isobel Bird
Approved: April 2005
Approved by: thefanlistings.org
It's another of my favourites because it's probably the most realistic as a storyline. The Five Paths deals with Cooper being 'persecuted' for wearing a pentacle to school.

Broken

Subject: Hate You
Author: Graham McNamee
Approved: March 2005
Approved by: thefanlistings.org
Hate You is a very emotional book. It takes often-used concepts but adds a new spin. You really feel for the girl and her mother as the book progresses.

Learning Through Lies

Subject: Replica, #16 - Happy Birthday, Dear Amy
Author: Marilyn Kaye
Approved: April 2005
Approved by: thefanlistings.org
I really love this series, and the way the author wrote child abuse issues into a Science Fiction book without taking away from it or making it cliché really impressed me.

Ghost Of A Boy

Subject: Wasteland
Author: Francesca Lia Block
Approved: March 2005

Francesca Lia Block is one of the best authors I've ever read, and Wasteland is a wonderful novel. She takes such a controversial issue as incest and writes it from in such a way that it's almost poetic.
